David Kwan is a registered physiotherapist licensed with the College of Physiotherapists of BC and a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. David earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Physiotherapy at The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. He holds a B.Sc. in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University and has further training in gait assessment and orthotic prescription.
David has worked extensively in sports and exercise therapy, starting as an exercise therapist with an emphasis on ergonomic and biomechanical rehabilitation. His initial experience started with using his kinesiology degree to work extensively with ICBC and WCB clients in active conditioning and return to work programs. Concurrently he worked as a personal trainer and volunteered as an athletic trainer for several junior and senior hockey and lacrosse teams.
During his studies in Australia, David volunteered as an athletic trainer with various rugby and cricket teams. He was also involved in working with national level athletes in rugby, rhythmic gymnastics and basketball.
In 2003, David returned to Canada and worked in a private practice in the lower mainland. The following year he established Seva Physiotherapy Clinic with another physiotherapist. Wanting to expand his work experience David, along with partners Tracy Barber and Paolo Bordignon established Salus Physiotherapy Clinic.
With a past history of competing in athletics, dragon boating and martial arts, David is now an avid ice hockey player, snowboarder and surfer. He is well versed and personally experienced in treating sports-related injuries as well as non-sport related injuries and dysfunctions.
He has participated in local community sports teams including hockey, lacrosse, rhythmic gymnastics, dragon boating, martial arts and outdoor adventure sports.
